Like everything else this year, 2020 is going to have a different holiday season. Many families won’t be able to gather to celebrate their favorite things – spending time together, enjoying a football game or spending hours cooking and eating all of their favorite foods.
Half Price Books is also making adjustments to our favorite holiday – Booksgiving Day – which takes place Saturday, November 21.
2020 marks the eighth year we’ve celebrated Booksgiving Day at Half Price Books, but this year’s celebration is a little different. Normally, we’d host a special storytime, but this year we have to stay safe by keeping our distance. Some of our local stores are hosting special pandemic-friendly Booksgiving events, be sure to check your local store’s page to see if they are participating.
Since 2012, we’ve donated more than 11.1 million books through our Million Book Donation Project, including 1,000,557 books in 2019. While we won’t hit that number in 2020 due to the pandemic, literacy and community remain part of the mission of Half Price Books. We still strive to donate to local charities and educators who fill out our Book Donations Request Form, and we hope to get back to that million book mark in 2021.
Until we see you next, stay safe and enjoy these photos from previous year’ Booksgiving Day celebrations!
